How to get to Rotterdam

You can reach Rotterdam by various means of transportation.

By Train

Rotterdam is one important railways node of the Netherlands and it can be reached easily by train. The travel is insured by Dutch Railways (NS.nl) and usually the seats are quite comfortable. In case you own a Train Reduction/Discount Card, traveling by train in the Netherlands can become very cheap. If you buy a ticket using the vending machines, you get an extra 50 euro cents discount. You can buy local tickets from the vending machines and international tickets only to Germany and Belgium. You can pay by debit card but only if this is issued by a Dutch bank and some machines accept coins as well. If you plan to buy a ticket to France or any other European country, you must do it from NS Hi-Speed office (platform 1), everyday between 7am and 8:30 pm.

By Bus

You can reach Rotterdam by bus as well. Kruisplein is very near Rotterdam Centraal and hosts an international bus stop. Most of the bus companies coming from Europe or Delft, The Hague or other cities in Holland, stop here. If you're planning to travel from any European Union country, you must take into consideration traveling with Eurolines (Conradstraat 06, 010-412 24 44), a low-cost international bus service. You need a Credit Card to make online reservations on their website.

By Boat

If you chose to travel by boat, there are two options:

1. With the P&O Ferries (between Hull and Europoort). For reservations you must go to the international train ticket office. There are P&O bus shuttles between Kruisplein (near the train station) and Europoort (daily at 17:00 H).

2. Stena Line can also take you from London to Rotterdam. The ferry departs twice a day (7:20 AM and 4:00 PM). Ticket prices range between 76 EURO and 89 EURO.
